A compensation payment has been made to Steven Roger Williams in respect of a specified claim under the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (the Act).
The Act requires that after the Secretary of Justice makes certain deductions from the compensation payment, the surplus remaining goes into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account to enable victims of Steven Roger Williams to make claims against it.
Any money left after any victims’ claims have been paid will be paid to Steven Roger Williams.
On 16 June 2021, $1,000.00 was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on behalf of Steven Roger Williams.
The money paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account is held in trust for Steven Roger Williams until it has been paid out in accordance with subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.
Any person who has been a victim of Steven Roger Williams, in respect of an offence for which Steven Roger Williams was convicted in a Court of New Zealand, is entitled to make a claim against the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Steven Roger Williams.
Claims by victims are not limited to the amount available in the Trust Account.
